The lily bud is making progress and here are the pictures to prove it.
These were taken Thursday, July 16th at 5:30 at the hottest part of the day.
Then the pictures from Friday. Just before noon just as the sun was about to hit it
, and then at 12:30. 
At one o'clock I checked again and the bud has color showing and my hopes are way up. Perhaps today is the day. If it makes progress, I will take pictures and post them in this same post. Be sure to re-read this post often.
Last picture for Friday - didn't quite make it open. Maybe tomorrow afternoon.
Saturday the bloom stayed upright but tightly closed. Sunday the bloom fell over as if it were finished. Monday the bloom lay limp and sad so I pinched it off. Maybe next time.
