Neither snow nor rain . . .

"Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds."

We all think that this is the U. S. Postal Service official motto or creed, but it isn't.  This was proven beyond a doubt in Georgia this week.  We haven't seen a postman since last Saturday.  My poor mailbox has been so lonely.  I've checked it every day, mostly because my dog hates this weather but will always go out if you ask her to come along to get the mail.  I knew there wasn't going to be anything there early in the week because there were no tire tracks on the road.  Later in the week, there were tracks, but only in the middle of the road.

Then, today, we finally saw this!  As you can see, there is still a nice coating of ice on the roads, especially the neighborhood roads.

This is what we got, a lot of bills, a couple of advertisements, some junk mail, a magazine but no packages.  I didn't really expect there to be even though I am expecting a few.

There was one very special envelope in the mix - this is what was in it.  The perfect thing to arrive on a cold, icey day.
A pop up card wishing us a nice hot cup of cocoa!  I love it!

I'm so glad it came! And what a perfect time to arrive, in all that snow.

I'm so sorry you are dealing with bad weather. I guess, for me, the bright side is knowing we are so practiced at this that we pretty much carry on as usual, just bundled up and extending the time it takes to do anything. But I do remember when I was young what it was like to be pretty much stranded and isolated until Springtime. I read LOTS of books!
