Spin, Span, Spun

Spin, span, spun, we're having some fun!
This is the latest spinning - 4.9 ounces of merino/bamboo blend in a colorway called Penguin's Journey from Portfiber - Portland Fiber Gallery in Portland Maine.  I spun it into fine singles and then Navajo plied them into 200 yards of about worsted weight yarn.  It's lovely.  The bamboo gives it shine and the subtle colors running from blues and grays to pinks and reds with a good bit of white thrown in is just relaxing.  I'm happy with it and it was fun to spin.

So here is my blanket so far.  I like it.  I am ready to start knitting but first I have to clean out all the little projects that are sitting in my knitting bag.  I need to finish Mom's roses (they'll be in Idaho before you, I promise).  I need to finish the samplers I started - one is done the other almost done.  I have a neck warmer I started.  I have two shawls that I need to get going - Mom's quiviut and the one I was making for me out of the yarn Mom bought me when she was here.  The shawls aren't started, so I can work on those while I'm working on something else.  I also have a couple of little things I want to work on - like the sheep from Spud & Chloe, the yarn is wound into balls and ready to cast on.  Hmm, I think I have too many projects in the hopper.

And here is another one.  I need opinions on this one.  It's going to be a sweater with vertical stripes and each stripe will have a different texture.  I need five colors to make it.  I had picked out these colors to make a hat with but I really want to make this sweater first and there should be enough leftover to make the hat and even if there isn't, I can get more of this yarn.  I need help deciding which group of colors to use - there is only one color difference between them, but they look very different.  So tell me if you like Color Group A or Color Group B and help me decide which way to go - I'm no good with colors.

Color Group A

Color Group B
Just for the sake of clarity, since colors are funny on monitors, the four colors that are in both groups are turquoise (a bit bright), maroon (not as bright as it looks in the photos), purple (which might look blue). and green (which on my monitor looks more turqoise than it is in reality).  The colors that change are fuchsia and a burnt orange.  These are pretty much jewel tones.  The blue holding the yarns up is part of the blanket yarn and only meant to hold the yarn up.

And, Dena, I finally got a new pedometer.  I hope it is accurate and sturdy.  I will let you know.

This is my ever-faithful photography assistant.  She's so much more helpful than That Other Girl.  And lately, she is more fun to be around too.  After the photos were all taken to my satisfaction, she figured it was time to play so . . .
She pushed her sheep my way.

Oh, and there's been tatting happening here.  Actually there has been a lot of tatting but most of it has not been photo worthy (and for me to say that it must have been really bad).  But there has been successful tatting going on just recently.  I will post pics as soon as my exchange partner has gotten it in the mail.  I will also post pics of what she sent me - I have it but won't open it until she gets hers from me and I mailed it late.

color group B. The fuschia and purple in group A seem to compete but it might be that the fuschia looks like another shade of purple on my monitor.

I liked color group a but I like purple and having two shades of it in the color group made it very purple. How close are the purple and fuschia?

If you didn't want the sweater to be purple with other colors, group b is rainbow or multi.

I originally bought the colors in group A for a hat and then decided that since I liked them they would be great for the sweater. The more I looked at them, the more I thought the fuschia was too close to the purple and the burgundy and that having all three was too much of one thing. So I went back and got the orange to sub for one of them and decided that the fuschia was the one in between and too close to either of them to remain. I think the fuschia is probably closer to the maroon than the purple, and though I like it and I like the others, I think I'm going to go with the orange instead. I'll make the hat with all six colors and a black. It'll be lovely.

And the first trial run with the pedometer was not good - it recorded almost 2500 steps in about 3 hours and I'm pretty sure that ain't right. My Walk It Out game came today tho and I tried it out . . . fun, lots of fun.

Actually, I prefer that last picture, the one with the cute dog in it...

B. The fuchsia in a just makes the not purply colors (like green) look out of place, and in B, the orange fills in the color range nicely.

This post and all comments disappeared. The post came back but not the comments. I grabbed them out of the emails and am posting them all as one big comment.
