So, since Dena wanted a little mini sock to hold her shuttle, I knit her a purple one. I'm sending her a purple shuttle (from Anika's shop here) to go inside it because, well, when I saw that purple shuttle I knew Dena needed it. (She is crazy about purple). I knit myself a soft and colorful little sock because I still like that yarn - I have a pair of socks for myself that I knit out of it here.
So, first to answer a few questions:
Caseymini - I'll email you a pattern.
Kathy Niklewicz - I have heard of Althea Crome and I think her work is AMAZING. (For those of you not familiar with her, do check out Bugknits and be amazed yourself.) I can't begin to knit that small - six complete sweaters on her finger? for real? - because my eyes just aren't that good anymore.
For these little mini socks I used regular sock yarn - all of it leftover from socks I've knit for myself or my family. When I knit socks for myself, I use a size 1 or 2 so the stitches will be tight and firm. I knit all of these on a size 3 so they'd be loose, squishy soft and stretchy.
Jane - you asked for it, you got it.
Isdihara - I haven't seen Lynne Gillies knit stockings or sock monkeys. Dena and I tried to see the tiny sock monkey on Facebook but couldn't. Do you have another link? I have seen a mini monkey on ravelry and it is adorable. Again, too small for my old eyes to enjoy knitting.
Ok, on to the winners . . . .

please email me your snail mail addresses and I'll get these in the mail.
Yes, that's right . . . everyone who wanted one is getting a mini shuttle sock. Well, all but one.
Jane Eborall is getting a mini shuttle mitten because she likes to be different.
Here is the whole mess of them - mine and Dena's, Jane's mitten and a whole lotta mini socks.
And Kathy and Isdihara - here is about the smallest knitting I really want to do. This little sock was knit on size 0000 needles with regular sock yarn. It would be smaller if I had knit it with lace weight yarn or tatting thread.
When I was a young girl (fourth or fifth grade) my Mother knit on straight pins, the 1" long ones used for sewing using sewing thread instead of yarn. It was for a history project where I dressed my barbie doll as a settler and built her a covered wagon. I still have the dress, but not the knitting. That was crazy small knitting.

Thank you.
I can't believe I won a mini stocking because I didn't think I was even in the drawing. Thank you very much especially since you made it in purple for me
How exciting! The only mini-knitting I've ever seen was a small piece my mom made for the cover of my home ec project in junior high. I thought my mom was the most extraordinary person in the world... my cover had knitting on tooth picks!
Thank you for this wonderful giveaway! I'm excited!
Those are so cute; congrats to the winners.
Merry Christmas from Thistle Cove Farm.
What a NICE surprise! As a knitter myself, I certainly appreciate the skill used here! Although I can handle size 1 double-pointed needles (but knit loosely, so the gauge might be equivalent to size 3), I can't knit something this tiny! Regular socks are more my comfort zone! And turning the heel on these? Amazing!
Thanks again!! I'll send my address this evening!
Awesome! Many thanks - these are adorable shuttle socks. I don't knit - and I don't get how you can make them so tiny :)
Sending my address - thanks again!
~Cindy
I can't beleive I won one of your mini socks. Thanks
What a nice present. Thanks so much. Now I have to decide which shuttle gets to "hide out" in it's new home.
WOW that is a small small sock (the thought of your mother knitting with straight pins is amazing), that you made Ms. Jane a mitten is too funny, and that I'm a winner is awesome. Another fun post to read, thank you.
Teresa, I tried to make a comment the first day that I found out I had won. For some reason, I couldn't get it to work. Thank you so much. I love the socks! They are fantastic. As soon as you send the pattern, I am going to get right to work!
Hi Teresa! Thanks, the fabulous sock found me last night! I was pleasantly surprised. Think I'd totally missed your announcement about the winners! ;p
Sorry for the trouble you had to go through to get to me.
Happy New Year!
Hugs
Val
Hi Theresa. I realize this blog is a few years young, but would you by any chance have the pattern for the mini shuttle sock and mitten. I bought 4 in long knitting needles and love to work with the. When I saw you sock pattern I really wanted to knit on my mini needles, but couldn't find a pattern. Is the mitten done on 4 needles too? I would like to knit them for my shuttles (not that I really know how to tat - only a bit, but trying to learn) and then make some for my grandchildren as ornaments.
Thank you in advance
Francine
Francine - Teresa from stitch in' n knitting (ourknit along.blogspot.com). If you send me your email address, I can send you the pattern.
Hi Teresa
I sent my email address thank you. I'm asking for the mini sock patter, but also wondered if you also had the mini mitten pattern please?
I love miniature knits, well the size of these are small enough lol.
Thank you and have a great day
Francine
