Curve Balls

Sometimes you get things going and then all of a sudden, life throws you a curve ball.  I was going great guns on the hat and mittens for Girl Far From Home because it is going to get cold where she is pretty soon (in the 40's next week I think).  I was also working hard on tatting for my new Tatted Shuttle(s) that I'm giving myself as a present (need to stop doing that so much).  That was all fine, well and good, but then a baby was born.  I know that's not a huge deal, and the baby in question isn't even related to me.  But I had promised the Aunt that I'd make something for the baby (a knitting commission) and was fully prepared to do that down the road in several weeks because that's when the baby was due.  But the baby came early - a preemie.

So I made her a tiny little hat to keep her head warm - this is about big enough to fit a tennis ball.

And this one is closer to newborn size to fit that little head when it gets a bit bigger.

Some little baby booties and socks to keep tiny, little feet warm.

And all of them together!

I love making things for babies! That reminds me... my nephew and his wife are expecting their first in January. I guess I'd better get started!

That's so cute! If she's a preemie, she'll especially need to be warm, right?
