So, the girl has this glitter lava lamp that lives on top of the shelves attached to her desk. These shelves aren't all that tall, about 5 feet, but the girl is all that short . . . She uses the glitter lava lamp as a night light of sorts and her wicked mother has told her that she cannot just leave it on 24 hours a day, 7 days a week because it's a horrible waste of energy and lightbulbs (which are not the kind you just pick up in the grocery store). Well, she decided to try to turn off the light one day (the first time ever, I think) and decided to climb on her desk chair so that she could reach better. The only flaw in her plan was that the desk chair has wheels . . .
We're looking at about 3 weeks in the cast/brace. She was fortunate because if she'd been older, this kind of break would have required surgery. She was also fortunate that her mother had bought a right hand brace for her left hand and it was stuck in the back of the car waiting to be returned to the store (or till I got tired of it riding around in my car and tossed it somewhere and forgot where). The hospital that took the x-rays was going to put a regular cast on it but decided that my wrong brace was a pretty good brace and fit well enough to imobilize the wrist and arm so the bones could mend.
